New Delhi: With the rise in the number of Covid-19 cases in the capital, the district authorities are following stringent strategies to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Such measures include tracing and testing at least 30 people who have come in contact with the positive person.

An official from the south district opined, “While the containment strategy has remained similar and the number of zones has gone up, we are now following the strategy of tracing a minimum of 30 contacts of those who test positive. Earlier, this number was around 20, but it was then increased”. He further stated that importance is also given on the vaccination of the identified person and the district administration is making all efforts to mobilize as many beneficiaries as possible for the vaccination.

The district magistrate (north west), Cheshta Yadav stated, “The North West district is conducting around 5,000 RT-PCR tests in a day. We have increased the testing as we are doing ‘line listing’ of a lot of contacts and are getting them mandatorily tested”. She further said, “The numbers have gone up from the 20-25 contacts earlier and now more contacts are being traced”.

Line listing refers to an organized and detailed list of cases with individual records that keeps a track on the numerous individuals at a particular place, specifically during an outbreak.

Sanjeev Khirwar, divisional commissioner have asked all the district magistrates to follow an intense surveillance method and increase Covid awareness in ‘super spreader’ areas that includes weekly markets, cinema halls, shopping malls, religious places and metro rails in Delhi. Commuters arriving at railway stations and inter-state bus terminals (ISBT) from states where there is a massive outbreak of the virus are to be randomly tested.

Shahdara district authorities are randomly testing the people who are arriving at Anand Vihar, getting down from the buses near the Uttar Pradesh-Delhi border. But now, the testing is being done in a full swing along with the ISBTs being posted at Kashmir Gate and Sarai Kale Khan.

Yadav also stated that patients who are in home isolation are also undergoing thorough surveillance.
