You may not have realized this to date but mostly when we open that refrigerator door to find something to eat; it is not actually out of hunger but out of boredom. This means that next time you head towards your kitchen to find some snacks for yourself, ask yourself if you are really hungry. If not, then simply find yourself a distraction in the form of television or books.
Having short walks or say brisk walking for around 20 minutes can help you get rid of those cravings for fast food. Once you are back from your walk you will no longer crave anything junk but a glass full of water or juice and trust us that is enough.
Most of us are often too lazy to go to the kitchen and gran that packet of chips. If we have bananas or an apple lying right next to us, we prefer having that instead of going all the way to the kitchen to get some chips. Though laziness might be a bane in other places where it is surely a boon.
We are not asking you to get into details of the nutritional value of everything you eat but how hard is it to track the packets of chips you have in a week or number of times you order pizza and pasta? We guess it is pretty easy. At least this way you get to control your craving for junk food and restrict consumption.
Taking long gaps between meals result in the dropping of blood which causes the craving, forcing you to grab anything you have in front of you. To avoid this, it is better to keep feeding your stomach something healthy frequently.
When you chew gum you feel like having a snack that you are not actually. Doing so satisfies your craving and prevents you from having anything unhealthy.
Again we are not asking you to think before you eat all the time. All that we want you to do is make eating a standalone task. When you are concentrating on what you are eating you try to be more aware, about the intake of quality as well as quantity and this is a must.
Each time you feel a craving for something junk, instead of eating snacks try to have a glass of water first. After having water if you still crave to something to eat then you can opt for taking some healthy snacks. Most often, you wrongly perceive hunger for thirst.
You need to keep a track of how many times you eat in a day and when exactly do you feel like having a snack. At times it so happens that you substitute eating for things like boredom, anxiety, loneliness etcetera. If this is what is happening with you too, then try finding an alternative to eating like indulging in some leisure activity.
Foregoing junk food altogether is not an answer to any of your problems. On the contrary, you should allow yourself to grab some junk food once a week. Doing so will keep you motivated against not having junk on other days of the week.
Follow these tips and see the difference these make to your routine of healthy snacking. Even if you begin by following one tip each day, you will make a huge difference to your health.
