A nodal officer to be appointed to each hospital in UP dealing with Covid patients

Lucknow: As a precautionary measure in the increase in the number of positive cases, Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister, on Sunday ordered the state health department for the appointment of a nodal officer for each hospital roped in for Covid cases. In the last 24 hours, UP reported 4,164 new cases.

The CM also have given directions to the officials to conduct nigrani samitis at every gram panchayat and municipal ward. For such a thing, members of Yuvak Mangal Dal, chowkidars, civil defence and NGOS shall be taken into account. The officials are instructed to keep a close watch on Lucknow, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Ghaziabad and GB Nagar. The CM is of the opinion that SGPGI, KGMU and Ram Manohar Lohia should increase the number of beds for the treatment of Covid. In case of any negligence, strict actions would be taken.

Amit Mohan Prasad, additional chief secretary of health stated that nodal officers would be appointed in both the government and private hospitals. It is the sole responsibility of the officials to make sure that the patients get quality treatment and there is sufficient arrangements in the hospitals. He further said, “The officers will also address complaints, if any, of the people admitted in these hospitals”.

On World Health Day, April 7, Prasad proclaimed that the state government shall give out gifts to four to eight people I every district who have received both doses of the vaccine. Selection shall be made on the basis of lottery with the help of the serial number of the vaccination card of the ones who have received the vaccination. He added, “This is being done to encourage people to get the second dose of vaccine’.

Prasad further said that the government shall make sure the Covid safety protocols are implemented that includes demarcating containment zones. In a single case, the containment zone would cover a radius of 25 metres while in more than one case, the containment zone would be of 50 metres radius.

More than 19k cases reported in the last 24 hours in UP

In the last one day, UP records a total number of 19,738 cases. Out of these, 10,665 are in home quarantine while the rest have been hospitalized. In the state, 6,01,640 patients are reported to have been recovered. Prasad stated that the government have tested samples of 1,77,695 people. He added, “The idea is to identify and isolate the infected people as soon as possible”. On Saturday, 1,6,110 tests have been made. As of now, 3,54,13,966 tests have been conducted in the state. The ACS opined that there has been an increase in the rate of surveillance due to the rise in the number of active cases. He stated that 3,17,06,947 houses have been identified to cover more than 15 crore inhabitants.
