Asthma: Symptoms and Remedies

Most of them are curable, while some of them are only controllable and cannot get cured. Asthma is one of them that cannot be cured but only get controlled for the rest of life. So today, we are going to talk about things related to asthma disease, symptoms, treatment, and home remedies.

What is Asthma?

Asthma is a lifelong inflammatory disease in which your air tube starts to get swollen or narrow because of the extra production of mucus in your body. That makes a person breathing unstable, and the person begins to have difficulty while breathing.

The way Asthma messes up with your breathing system is like when you usually breathe; you breathe from your nose, then that air goes through your air tube, making to your lungs. After that, your lungs send that air to your bloodstream by many small air passages.

Symptoms of Asthma

Several symptoms can occur when a person has asthma disease, some of the most common ones are;

  • Cough: There can be many types of cough like; dry cough, mild cough, phlegm cough, etc.
  • Breathing: The most basic symptom is having trouble breathing. The person with Asthma will not be able to breathe well through the nose; he will also show signs like fast breathing, waking up at night because of shortness of breath, etc.
  • Chest pressure: When you have Asthma due to less air, sometimes your chest can also hurt without any reason.
  • Wheezing: Asthma patients can show signs by making a whistling or squealing sound while breathing.
  • Fatigue: Without much air, your body stops receiving enough oxygen, which restricts most of your activities, and you start to feel tired when you do any physical activities.

Treatment

There are mostly three essential treatments that all doctors would prefer.

Breathing exercises

If the asthma patient is not in danger, then most of the doctors would recommend you seeing a therapist and learning all kinds of breathing exercises that you can. All these exercises help you to get more air in your lungs and out of your lungs as well. It won’t help you right away, but after weeks you will start to see a lot of changes which will make you feel a lot better.

First aid treatment

When you suddenly have an asthma attack, then only the doctor will recommend you to get these treatments.

  • Inhalers: Inhalers are one of the most common medications given to an asthma patient. It helps the patient to get the medicine deep into your lungs, which provide a sense of relaxation in your lungs.
  • Bronchodilator: This treatment is to ensure that a patient’s tightened lungs muscle gets relaxed in just a few moments.
  • Anti-inflammatories: Like we read above, that Asthma is a lifelong inflammatory disease. So taking anti-inflammatory drugs can help target the inflammation in your lungs and help you with your breathing.

Home remedies

Coffee

Drinking coffee or caffeine can work like medicine for asthma patients. That can relax your lungs for up to four hours. So you can drink black coffee every day two times to three times to help with your Asthma.

Garlic

Eating a lot of garlic can help you with Asthma as well, as garlic contains anti-inflammation properties. So eating garlic can provide you a relaxed feeling in your lungs.

Ginger

Just like garlic, ginger also contains anti-inflammatory properties that will help you to ease up the tightness in your lungs.

Yoga

Yoga can help you with Asthma a lot, as the exercises in yoga based on how you breathe. So all these exercises can improve your breathing get better and lessen your chances of getting an asthma attack.
