India’s homegrown Flipkart Group has launched the Flipkart Health+ app. It is the digital healthcare marketplace platform. It is supposed to be a tech platform that enables access to genuine medicines and various healthcare products and services for several millions of customers across the country. With an ambitious aim to serve customers across over 20,000 pin codes of the country, Flipkart Health+ will now be available on app stores. It will enable an easy and convenient access to the highest quality and affordable medicines as well as healthcare products, from different independent sellers, through the platform on the Flipkart Health+ app.

Flipkart Health+ would benefit from the reputed expertise and experience of the Flipkart Group’s reach and its last-mile supply chain capabilities. It will also benefit from Sastasundar.com’s existing robust healthcare network across the country. It also aims to strengthen India’s core healthcare ecosystem by enabling access to a wide range of affordable medicines and healthcare products and related services by partnering with the various healthcare ecosystems to work toward long-term sustainable well-being and social development.

Commenting on the launch of the Flipkart Health+ app, Prashant Jhaveri claimed, “Since the Covid-19 pandemic, Indians have witnessed a tremendous shift in favoring wellness and preventative healthcare, and there is an increased focus on health and wellness, like never before. Through Flipkart Health+, we aim to solve the critical gap of accessibility to genuine medicines and healthcare products and services across the country, especially in the remotest parts of the country that have been underserved until now. We want to leverage technology to strengthen the healthcare ecosystem and enable it to serve customers better by making access to healthcare simpler even for those residing in distant areas of the country and contributing towards a healthier India.” Prashant Jhaveri is the chief executive officer at Flipkart Health+.

Flipkart Health+ app, it was noted, has been designed and developed with effective techniques keeping the Indian market in mind. It has a user-friendly interface that will appeal to customers, irrespective of their technological adeptness. With a robust technology and logistics infrastructure, Flipkart Health+, while working under the rules set by the regulatory framework, will enable easy and affordable access to various medicines and healthcare products and services for several health conditions, including acute and chronic illnesses, to more customers across the nation, especially in the remote locations which have long remained underserved.

To begin with, the Flipkart Health+ platform is to have over 500 independent Sellers who will have a network of registered pharmacists. These will validate medical prescriptions and provide accurate dispensation of medicines. Although it may seem like an intermediary marketplace platform, Flipkart Health+ management has already put in place various quality checks as well as verification protocols that can facilitate fast and timely delivery of genuine medicines and healthcare products from multiple independent sellers to the customer’s doorstep. In the next few months, Flipkart Health+ plans is going to onboard third-party healthcare service providers that can offer other value-added healthcare services such as teleconsultation and e-diagnostics to its customers.

Healthcare is fast becoming one of the largest sectors of the Indian economy, both in terms of revenues and employment. India’s smartphone and internet penetration is an excellent opportunity to make an array of medicines and healthcare products affordable and accessible across the country, including the remotest parts.

Initially available only on the Android Play Store like the Google play store, the app will be made available on iOS in the near future. It can be accessed on low bandwidth, thus making it even more accessible to customers across the country.
