All private hospitals in Telangana to provide vaccination to the people above the age of 18 years

Hyderabad : On Tuesday, the Telangana government gave permission to all the designated private hospitals in the state to start off with the Covid-19 vaccines to the ones more than 18 years of age.
The designated Private Covid Vaccination Centres (PCVCs) in the state can now start administering Covid vaccines to the people above 18 years of age.
Dr G. Srinivasa Rao, the Director of public health gave out orders to the designated PCVCs on Tuesday to begin with the vaccination procedure. They can also provide vaccination at place of work or on the request of institutions, companies or gated communities.
But, the eligible people need to get themselves registered on the CoWin portal. The PCVCs need to adhere to the Covid vaccination norms.
Vaccination for the people within the age gap of 18-44 years was started on May 1. But, the Telangana government gave a halt to this vaccination process due to the unavailability of vaccines.
Since the state did not receive any fresh stock from the Centre, the vaccination for the second dose for the people more than 45 years of age continued.
The unavailability of the vaccines prompted the authorities to stop providing the second dose as well. After a break of 10 days, the vaccination procedure resumed back its service on Tuesday.
K. Chandrasekhar Rao, the Chief Minister had ordered free Covid vaccines for all the eligible residents of the state last month. The cost incurred for the vaccination is summed at Rs2,500 crore.
He stated that the state has a population of almost 4 crore and that includes the people who have come from various other states for job opportunities.
The state has provide vaccination to more than 56 lakh people.
The state comprises of 1.72 crore people within the age bracket of 18-44 years. In order to totally vaccinate this age group, the state requires 3.6 crore doses. The officials are of the opinion that the state can vaccinate 10 lakh people daily. But the inadequacy of the vaccines is posing a threat to the procedure.
